Is Matisse a hotel or an apartment?
Both, in the best sense. You get a full apartment — bedroom, living area, dining table and a fully equipped kitchen, up to 90 m² — paired with the kind of attentive service usually reserved for hotels: a daily front desk, fresh linens and towels, complimentary toiletries and secure access. Your own door, in the heart of the Old Town.
What’s the difference between an Apartment and a Suite?
Both sleep up to three guests and share the same comfort — a queen bed, an extendable sofa bed, a full kitchen, a walk-in shower, a Smart TV, individual air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi. Apartments offer up to 85 m². Suites offer up to 90 m² and add a separate guest toilet, which makes them especially convenient for families or small groups.
How many guests can stay in one apartment?
Up to three. Each unit has a queen-size bed (200 × 160 cm) and an extendable sofa bed (175 × 140 cm) in the living area.
Is there a real kitchen?
Yes. Every apartment and suite has a fully equipped, open-plan kitchen: oven, induction hob, fridge with freezer, cookware, cutlery and a coffee & tea maker, plus a dining table. Cook in, or step out to the Old Town’s restaurants and cafés a few minutes away.
What’s included in every stay?
Hotel-quality linens, fresh towels on arrival, complimentary toiletries, unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, a Smart TV with international channels, individual air conditioning, and a secured building with controlled card access. The building was fully restored in 2018, blending its historic character with modern comfort.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Our front desk is open daily from 11:00 to 19:00 — if you expect to arrive outside these hours, let us know in advance and we’ll arrange your keys.
Is the front desk staffed around the clock?
Our reception is on hand daily from 11:00 to 19:00. After hours, our colleagues at Rembrandt Hotel (Smardân 11, a 3-minute walk away) are there to help.
Can I smoke in the apartment?
No — Matisse is a 100% non-smoking property. A €100 cleaning surcharge applies if smoking occurs inside an apartment.
Is the building secure?
Yes. Entry is by card access only and the building is under video surveillance — private and quiet, in the middle of the Old Town.
How do I get the best rate?
Book directly through the reservation button on our website for our best available rate and direct-guest service, rather than through third-party platforms.
Where is Matisse located?
Strada Blănari 18, 030167 Bucharest — on one of the Old Town’s oldest streets, steps from Lipscani and Stavropoleos and the best restaurants in the city.
How do I get there from Otopeni Airport?
Two easy options. We recommend reserving an airport pick-up through us — a fixed price and a reliable driver; just ask reception. Alternatively, take the express airport bus to the Piața Universității stop, cross the intersection through the underground passage, turn right onto Ion Ghica Street toward the National Bank of Romania — Matisse is about 20 metres ahead, on the corner of Doamnei and Blănari streets.
